Is Your Music 'Findable' Online?
Last week I read through Mark Penn's book, Microtrends: The Small Forces Behind Tomorrow's Big Changes. It's a fascinating read based on some in-depth research, but one microtrend in particular caught my eye ...

It's a category of consumer that Penn refers to as "New Info Shoppers."

So many up and coming artists that most of them get lost in the crowd...err binary.
A tangent to your subject, but probably of interest to any musician trying to promote themselves is the dotmusic campain. The Idea is to create a domain name extension (like .com, .org, .edu, etc.) that makes music, artists label and other music related entities more easily searchable on the web. Check it out. Sign the petition.

Now that Google has indexed over a trillion webpages, it's harder than ever to find good content by accident... To help with this, there are some tips on SEO for musicians over at Linkdisco. Simply being aware that you need to have a website isn't enough - structure and strategy are becoming more important...
