Your Best Recession-Proof Music Tips Wanted
How Are You Surviving High Gas Prices and a Slow Economy?
You've read the headlines about touring bands having to cut back. You've paid high prices at the pump. Perhaps you've directly felt the pinch of rising costs and a slow summer economy.

So, how are you working through it? What are you doing to make the most of it?
If I can compile enough tips from smart people like you, I'll publish and distribute a free ebook filled with ways to cut down on expenses and weather the current economic climate.
Send me your best tips on saving money, stretching a dollar, and reaching fans in creative new ways. Especially if you refuse to be a victim of the group "recession consciousness," I want to hear from you.

We just booked 2 shows for the same weekend so
that we could hit one show upstate New York on Saturday, then another one on the way home for Sunday. This gave us 2 chances to get paid and to sell cds. We also stayed with friends both nights to offset the cost of gas. We also asked for a bigger fee for the
wedding gig because people are willing to pay more
for very special occasions. We just spend less on wardrobe and eating out too. It's best not to panic
about the gas prices because going out to play is opening up more chances to enjoy and to sell our music. Thanks for the great outlook, Bob. From
Kathena and THE HIPPY NUTS
I started a new band that is about as small as possible and easy to travel.
We're a power duo consisting of drums, bass and two keyboards. We each play 2 instruments at once and sing. So it's 2 guys playing 6 instruments and singing in 5 languages.
We've been playing only in San Francisco Bay Area, and can fit everything in the back of a Honda so travel is relatively cheap.
We are planning a tour in the fall to promote our first album. With only two members and such a small setup, we are able to fly to many of our shows and just rent a backline of kick drum, toms, hardware and a bass cabinet, or use those of the band we're playing with.
Before we travel, we make sure that each show is something we really want to do and will guarantee maximum exposure / income.
We're also booking a tour in Europe this fall so that we can take advantage of the weakness of the dollar (better to be earning Euros these days).
We're called Super Adventure Club, if you want to check us out.
