I will help you craft a customized plan to reach more editors, music journalists, bloggers and podcasters

Many people don't know this, but for 10 years I published and served as managing editor of a music magazine in the Midwest. During that decade I was on the receiving end of every type of music news pitch you can imagine. Phone calls, emails, letters and live conversations with thousands of people who were seeking exposure in my magazine.

But here's the sad truth ...

Most of them approached me the wrong way. They either over hyped themselves or tried to tell me their life story when all I wanted was a quick idea of who they were and what they played. Or they were so focused on satisfying their own needs and desires, they made it hard for me to give them what they wanted.

And guess what?

Not much has changed. In every conversation I have with editors, music journalists, reviewers, bloggers, and podcasters today ... the story is the same. Eager musicians and promoters continue to make these same mistakes time after time.

One of the things I want to teach in LA on June 1 is something I call "The Indirect Method of Media Exposure." I use the word Indirect because it seems to defy logic. It's the opposite of what a "self-promoter" feels he or she must do. But the thing is ... it works!

In fact, I've used this very technique to get a fair share of media exposure myself over the years. I've been interviewed on NPR's Morning Edition and received exposure in Electronic Musician, American Songwriter, Music Connection, VIBE magazine and many more. In just the past six months alone I was featured in E! Online and the print edition of The Onion in Chicago.

All this media coverage allows me to add the follow graphic to my web site:

Free Music Promotion

You can do the same thing. And that's what I'll help you do on Sunday, June 1, from 3 to 6 PM in Hollywood. You and I -- and about 15 or 20 other artists and promoters -- will talk about the lessons I've learned and the secrets to successful music publicity that I have uncovered.

Most importantly, we will work together to craft a number of news hooks and story ideas you can use to get better results from the media connections you target. I want you to leave with a long list of ideas and strategies custom made for you and the artists you work with.

I hope to see you and help you create an "Indirect" music PR plan on June 1.
