Make Money Selling Digital Downloads
Perhaps you've already signed up for CD Baby's Digital Distribution deal, which makes the songs you select available at the biggest online sellers, such as Apple iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, MSN Music, AOL's MusicNet, Yahoo MusicMatch, Sony Connect, MP3tunes, etc.
But there are a number of smaller sites popping up that offer music downloads for sale to the public and encourage indie artists to join them. Here are some that I found. Inclusion on this list does not imply an endorsement. In fact, I encourage you to leave comments on your experiences with these and other download sites and services.
Jamzilla.com
Mperia.com
DownloadMusicMart.com
MyGlobalSound.com
IntoMusic.co.uk
And here are a couple of sites that can help you set up your own secure download sales system on your web site.
Tradebit.com
Payloadz.com
Your turn. What's worked and not worked for you? Just click Comments and start posting.

As an unknown indie dude, the only digital download service I've seen substantial sales in is iTunes (US, Canada and UK). A few sales on Rhapsody and the occasional others. As well as a lot of listens (which are a few pennies here and there) on Rhapsody, MusicNet and Napster.
I'm on a few of the lesser known services you listed and I don't think I've seen any sales from them.
As internet drummer with my CD on cdbaby.com (Drummer.it I.M.C. Vol.IV) I've sold so many tunes by digital downloads but I've to see that money are not so much for musicians....what to say..... is all passion!!!!!!!!
www.drummer.it
www.funkdawgs.com first virtual internet band in the world!
I am wondering which digital distribution sites have the best payout rates.
I guess It just depends on what kind of music your doing. Then finding that target audience and then placing your music there for sale.
Its not enough just to post your tunes on a web site and sit back and wait for people to discover it.
You have to promote your music EVERY DAY! In every way,in every place you can.I own Jamzilla.com and I have talked to countless bands over the last year. The only bands that are selling tunes ,are the ones who promote, promote, promote! Links ,E-Mails,Gigs,networking,blogs.... etc...You have to work it all the time if you want results.
Thanks Bob Baker ,, for your great service here, and long live independent music!
