Season's Greetings!
With only two days left until Christmas, I wanted to send
you an issue what was all about gifts of various kinds.
Let's start with a free gift for you.
I recently happened upon the web site of Molly Gordon,
a certified coach dedicated to helping independent
professionals and artists build thriving livelihoods.
Through her books and seminars, Molly shows people how
to "learn to love marketing, and how to do business in a
way that feeds your soul as well as your bank account."
Sounds pretty cool, huh? What's even cooler is that Molly
is giving away a free 32-page e-book called "Authentic
Promotion: Building Purposeful Prosperity in a Professional
Practice." It's written for creative entrepreneurs of all
kinds, but I found lots of great advice in it for musicians.
You can download a free copy in .pdf or Word format at
www.mollygordon.com/resources/ebooks/
With New Year's resolution season right around the corner,
it's a good time to get inspired, and Molly's free book
certainly delivers that.
Now let's talk about another aspect of gifts -- in
particular, the musical gifts that you deliver to your
fans throughout the year. It's important to realize that
you're not just in the game of music to serve yourself.
To be substantially successful with your music, you must
develop a small army of enthusiastic fans. Nothing else
matters -- radio airplay, record deals, hot shot managers
... nothing! Without fans to appreciate you, all the rest
is meaningless.
So why do fans take interest and support you? Because
there's a payoff that your music and you as an artist
deliver. Think about the artists who you enjoy and support
the most. Why are you attracted to them? They either
make you feel good, or they make you feel connected,
or they allow you to be part of a scene that suits you, or
they satisfy you in some other way.
Those benefits are gifts that musical artists give to their
fans. In 2003, make sure you fully understand what your
fans get out of your music, and make a commitment to
deliver a lot more of those gifts.
Finally, I want to personally thank you for subscribing to
and reading this e-zine, and for visiting TheBuzzFactor.com
and recommending it to your music-minded friends. Two of
my biggest passions in life are music and writing. Because
of your support and enthusiasm, I'm able to combine these
passions and spread a little inspiration around the world.
Thanks for allowing me into your musical world. I feel
truly blessed.
Have a great holiday!
-Bob
