WELCOME!

I don't know what the weather is like in your neck of the woods, but in St. Louis, it's been a roller coaster ride. Up to nearly 90 degrees one day, down to the lower 40s the next night. And all the while, pollen dancing through the air like confetti. Ah-choo! ... I love spring.

Are you a songwriter? If so, you should download a new report from my friends at MusicDish. The best part ... it's free!

Songwriters: How to Succeed in the Music Industry is the name of this helpful resources, which features advice from songwriting veterans Jason Blume, Barbara Cloyd, Kim Copeland, Anne Freeman, Gary Talley, Susan Tucker and David Wimble. Download it here: www.musicdish.com/bookstore/ereport/songs4.php3

Enjoy the springtime!

-Bob

GUERRILLA MUSIC MARKETING POWER COURSE
"Applying many of Bob's ideas, and without any wholesaling or distribution, I sold more than 20,000 CDs and cassettes of my music over the last five years. And with his suggestions, I increased my fan base by 35% in just one year. Pretty good for a non-performing artist who does all studio work. Bob is the master of music marketing!"

============= Quotes of the Week =============

"Life is to be lived. If you have to support yourself, you bloody well better find some way that is going to be interesting. And you don't do that by sitting around wondering about yourself."  -Katherine Hepburn

"Don't give till it hurts -- give till it feels good."

========== Bob's Buzz Tips of the Week ==========

HOW TO REACH ART ALEXAKIS OF EVERCLEAR
According to this interview at GetSigned.com, Everclear's frontman says he's open to new bands to put on his own indie label, Popularity Records. He claims he listens to everything sent. Get the details here: www.getsigned.com/realexakis3.html

10 GREAT PLACES TO PROMOTE MUSIC ONLINE
www.bob-baker.com/buzz/10places.htm
Here are 10 great online publicity sources excerpted from my "Online Music PR Hot List." Use these writers, editors and webmasters to get wider exposure for you and your sounds.

A PRACTICAL PLACE FOR POPUPS
Like most Internet users, I usually have great disdain for popup windows. However, a recent visit to the band 6fg's web site introduced me to a creative way to use them. Take a gander at www.6fg.com and you'll see the band's home page and a small popup window filled with a short list of upcoming shows. Since this info is relevant and useful to visiting fans, people won't mind it as much as the intrusion of unrelated ads.

If you want to add a popup window to your home page, check out the java script generator page at javascriptkit.com/popwin/index.shtml. The cool thing about this script is that you can code it to only open once per visitor browser session. That means visitors won't keep getting "popped" every time they return to your home page during any single visit to your site.

ENTER THE RHYME ZONE
www.rhymezone.com
Stuck for a word that rhythms with "angst"? Perhaps you could use a trip to the RhymeZone. In addition to rhymes, the site will find synonyms, antonyms, definitions or words that match a pattern. Enter a word and away you go.

www.ummusic.com/Labels
Virtually every record label you can imagine is included here -- with corresponding links.

BandLink.Net
www.bandlink.net/labels.html
