About author Liz Koch

Liz is the president of Notorious Radio, an independent radio promotion and marketing company. She has established relationships with hundreds of DJs at rock, alternative, indie and new music radio shows across the U.S. She grew up in Southern California and for three years was the Los Angeles/Orange County Street Marketing Rep for EMI Records. During this period she also worked as Danny Elfman's personal assistant.

After her first CMJ (College Music Journal) Convention in 1994, Liz knew that the music business was what she wanted to do. So she moved to New York City in 1997 and began working at Tommy Boy Records in the Underground Rock Dept. She was at Tommy Boy for almost five years before the company folded in 2002.

With Notorious Radio, Liz specializes in promoting unsigned rock, alternative and indie bands to new music/specialty shows at commercial alternative radio. These shows, in short, have the format of college radio with the exposure level of commercial stations. These DJs report what they play to industry trade magazines, which compile all of the indie playlists from across the U.S. into a single chart.
