Artist Empowerment Radio

(If you've read this before or just want to start listening, you can head to the podcast here on my own site or at Gcast.)

To give the show a quick listen, try this nifty podcast player:

About the show: Artist Empowerment Radio offers advice for independent songwriters, musicians and bands (as well as creative people of all kinds). The program was created to inspire artists to take control of their careers.

The mission of Artist Empowerment Radio: to awaken within creative people the optimism and attitude that so often eludes them. You probably know my philosophy on this by now: Artists, writers and performers have a lot more power and control over their careers than most give themselves credit for.

The show is just one more way I'm getting out the message that you don't have to sit back and wait to be discovered. You can do better by creating your own lucky breaks. I hope that making spoken word versions of my thoughts available will help spread the word.

While much of the material on Artist Empowerment Radio is geared toward musicians, the principles apply to creative fields of all kinds -- art, writing, photography, acting, craftmaking, you name it. It's all about empowering artists to develop and share their talents, thereby enriching themselves and the world. So encourage your non-music creative friends to listen, too.

Also, since I'm a musician and music lover, I break up my spoken word advice with samples of music from some of my favorite independent artists (along with some of my own songs from time to time). Adding a little music not only makes the show more enjoyable, it also helps some great indie acts get exposure -- which ties in perfectly with the theme of the show.

Let me know your thoughts on the program and your suggestions for ways to improve future shows. Thanks!
